Asian Tribal Ministries (ATM) began as an evangelistic ministry to Tribal groups in Thailand. Over the last 25+ years ATM has expanded to include Discipleship and Leadership Training, Influencing Nation Leaders for Peace, Providing Development and Aid to Impoverished Communities in Thailand and Burma, Providing shelter and care for abandoned women and their young children.
In all of these different aspects of the ministry one main vision remains true and that is to reach out to the lost and broken with the Love and Gospel of Jesus Christ and Discipling them in the Word of God.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” Matthew 28:18-19
ATM is an evangelistic ministry to the Tribal groups in Thailand and Burma with a discipleship and leadership training base in Northern Thailand.
Asian Tribal Ministries (ATM) was founded and established by Pastors Timothy and Rebecca Laklem in 1986 beginning with the Discipleship Training School in Doisaket, Chiangmai. Their vision was to raise up tribal young people to know and serve the Lord and spread the Gospel throughout their villages. Children of the border was a branch of the ministry which was established to specifically minister to the orphans and children affected by the war, to provide a brighter future by building schools, providing school supplies, clothing, Christmas gifts and prayer. ATM has also been providing humanitarian relief such as food, medical supplies, clothing and bringing hope to the hurting and displaced peoples in the war-zoned areas of Burma along the Thai border for over 30 years and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The vision of ATM then went on to expand into bringing peace to the nation and stopping the war, making room for peace and development to be ushered in to a nation of peoples who have suffered over 60 years of war.
In 2011, directorship of ATM was passed on to Pastors Dakhota and Karenna, as Pastors Timothy and Rebecca continue to pursue the peace effort. Dakhota and Karenna took up the work on the ground at the Doi Saket base, training up young people, sheltering young mothers and their babies, empowering young people through youth camps, and outreaching to the remote areas of Thailand and Burma and spreading the Gospel. Along with the team at ATM, they have seen the ministry expand to embrace more and more people in need with the hope and love of Christ.
At the beginning of January 2021 Pastors Timothy and Rebecca returned to the directorship of ATM. This was in response to a calling for Pastors Dakhota and Karenna to relocate their work to a new site which was more suitable for them and their family.
